On Saturday April 27th, CWCDC presents Peter Pan, a “non-Disney-fied” version of J.M. Barrie’s classic tale, written and directed by Katy Chapman. Productions will hit the stage at 2pm and 7pm each day.
“The kids have been having a blast working on their comedic timing, while getting into their characters during rehearsals. They can’t wait to bring this production to life”, stated Gerard Gouthro, director of In The Bleachers. Katy Chapman, director of Peter Pan added “our talented group of young actors has been exploring contact improv, shadow work and stage combat while preparing to make their characters and the audience’s imaginations come to life”.
Since September, both groups of local young actors have been working on acting techniques, getting to know their plays, their roles, learning their lines and getting into character.
The Centre Wellington Children’s Drama Club began in the mid 1970s and is made up of 45 local kids in Grades 4-8 with a passion for acting. They come together to learn, develop, and enhance their unique artistic abilities through creative dramatic expression, becoming talented and confident young people. The kids work with their Director for half of the year learning and developing technique, and for the other half of the year practicing their play. The club supports and encourages members in a positive and ‘play’-ful approach.

Last Night of the Proms comes to Fergus!
Centre Wellington Singers Spring Concert showcases A Journey Through the British Isles.

Featuring audience favourites such as Danny Boy and Loch Lomond, it’s not to be missed.
This year’s musical guest is professional baritone Paul Grambo. Paul has performed extensively across Canada in both Opera and Musical Theatre. He has also sung as both a chorister and a soloist with The Elora Festival Singers. Also accompanying the choir for select pieces is violinist Felicia Urbanski. Felicia played with the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra for 11 seasons and has taught music internationally.
The concert takes place on Saturday April 27th at 3pm at Melville United Church, 300 St Andrew Street West in Fergus. Once the music stops, the fun continues as the audience can mingle with the musicians over tea and treats in the church’s fellowship hall.
Centre Wellington Singers is directed by Jurgen Petrenko. Talented organist, pianist, former executive producer for the CBC, founding-director of the 100-voice Toronto Singers (now in its 32nd year), and most recently, recipient of The Order of Niagara.
